SDX Smart film comprises a polyester base layer featuring a PDLC (Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal) coating. The PDLC technology allows the smart film to switch between transparent and opaque states.

It's made of two layers: one layer contains liquid crystals, and the other is conductive. When an electric voltage is applied, the liquid crystal molecules align and allow light to pass through, making the glass transparent. When the voltage is turned off, the molecules scatter and break the light's passage, making the glass opaque.

Try SDX Smart Film before installation with our PDLC and Non-PDLC SDX film samples.

PDLC film samples come ready to install with pigtail wires attached for easy installation on any flat glass surface. These 8x8 samples are exclusively available for our installing dealers.

Non-PDLC samples are 24'' x 48'' and do not contain electrical components. These panels are intended as a training tool for installing the base material.

Knowing how to properly install SDX Smart Film is key to a successful outcome. Smart film arrives pre-sized to fit each glass panel, as specified by the customer when ordering.

Installation & Wiring Instructions

To clean the smart film side of the glass, use a dry, soft cloth to lightly remove dust, dirt, and smudges. 

Glass surfaces coated with decorative window film can be cleaned using a soft cloth and a mild cleaning solution. 

To manually clean glass that does not have decorative film or smart film installed, use everyday window cleaning materials. Do not use any glass cleaning products containing vinegar, hydrofluoric, or phosphoric acid.
